Gairen came to the mountain along with his now older dragon Sobek. As Sobek flapped his wings flying beside him they began to clime. Gairen looked at the mountain very large; at least 900,000 miles of climbing that would take at least a year. Gairen made a pick and put it on his belt. "Sobek meet me up" Gairen said. The dragon nodded, and then it flew at the top, wings flapping. Gairen knew he could just hover using his sand or rock, but he knew that the skilled blacksmiths climbed up on there own. Blacksmiths that go to the mountain usually have big arms, not just the dwarfs but the humans, elves, every thing have big anatomies giving them an advantage at blacksmithing. The best weapons armor and jewelry are built on that mountain.
If passing a great Blacksmith test up in the mountain is said to give you immortality as long as you stay on the mountain. Gairen planed to find out truth, but what better chore to do besides climbing the mountain. The truth will be his reward. As he reaches a cave he stops to eat. He kills a few mountain lions as he knew they will not be higher up. He skinned there strange white fur and sued up a mask, boots, clothing, and a cape. He wore the paws on his hands for extra gripe. Carrying the meat on his back he continued to clime.
Once he came on the snow he put on his clothing. His pick hit the ice rock, and it shattered everywhere. He looked down as they fell, most would be shocked as they were so high. Gairen just looked down; maybe he was resting arms as looked like he was holding on a pole. He soon looked up and continued to clime. A long way up was the truth worth it. Gairen didn't consider himself a black smith, although he made weapons out of thin air he could not make them physically. Black smiths would kill for his power, Gairen needed the power so many times as well, and it saved his life so many times. The power given from his master, to save his life as it did many other times.
As Gairen continued up the mountain he smelt something foul. He turned on his heat vision; right in front there was a large heat source. The wall busted open, Gairen was then grabbed by a large hand. He was pulled in and thrown to the wall. His life his head up and a beast began to beat down on his defenseless body. Thrown again to the wall, the massively beaten. Gairen punched its nose and it wobbled back the shook its head. Gairen stood up and then he was rammed threw the wall. Gairen slipped threw his legs a came up behind him. His body was massively beaten. He took the pick he still had in his hands and stabbed it in the back. It flipped around and back handed him. Gairen flew back; he made a Dagger and threw it at him. It hit it straight in the head; Gairen fell back against the wall. He coughed up blood, and he got up. He looked up, it was blurry but he saw a figure walk up to him. Gairen fell to the ground with a large thump.
Gairen woke up a couple days later. He saw a woman in front of him. Silky black hair, purplish eyes, dark smooth skin, about his age and an elf. "Heh so your up" she said. "Who are you" Gairen said. "You can call me Faida Ferndom the great blacksmith of the world" she said proudly. "Gairen Yintom" Gairen said. "So what are you doing climbing this mountain” she questioned. "Going to find out the truth about the myth of immortality, and my Dragon is up there" he said trying to get up. "Hah typical human trying to search for imortal-" he stopped her and said "I already have it". "Maybe you should go back down" she said. "I could have flown up the mountain from the start, but my, ahhhhh" he yelled. She grabbed him and sat him against the wall. Gairen looked at the fire and said "What was that beast". She smiled and lifted her pant leg to show a scar then said "snow devils". Gairen looked back into her eyes, she looked back into his then he said "so you want to be a blacksmith". "Yeah I plan to meet my father up there, what about you, you don't look like a black smith" she said. "Just in for the truth, pulse I can do this" he said, he then held out his hand and made a dagger. "Ha Ha that’s amazing" she yelled. “oh so that’s what’s on your chest" she said. He crushed the dagger and it disappeared. Gairen looked outside the newly built cave, a man stood at the end. He held up a cross bow and fired. Gairen grabbed the bolts before it got to her; she picked up a large hammer and let out a huge yell. She dodged the bolts as he fired, with a large swing whacking him off. He yelled, it lasted for a couple minutes then he got out of range. She set down the hammer, and then she walked back to him with a womanly walk. She shook her head as the hair when back to her back. She sat back down next to Gairen. "I'm protecting you till you get better ok". Gairen smiled and nodded back at her.
Gairen soon healed up and they both together climbed the mountain. She was slower then him because of her hammer, Gairen then took the hammer and put it on his back. She began to clime up the wall faster then most can run like an Animal, Gairen put his hands on the hammer and began to clime using only his feet. They ran and ran, and she said "Most humans can't keep up with me". "You forgot I'm not most humans". Eleven were meant to hate humans because of the war, but she was different. Gairen moved farther ahead then jumped he then kicked open a cave. He slide inside then put out his hand, she grabbed it and he pulled her inside. They set a fire, and then they herd a pounding like foot steps. An elf passed by the opening, his feet on fire, black armor, red beading eyes. Gairen was in shock; she comforted him and said "Who was he she said". "No, no nooo, it was him ahhhhhhhhh" he yelled. He got up and pulled out a bow, he cursed at him and fired an arrow. He turned around and grabbed he arrow, he threw it back at Gairen. It turned into fire in shape of a bird. Gairen blasted a ray of sand making it glass and he dodged it. "Don't think I've forgotten you human, I thought you were dead along with your clan, it seems you have found internal youth, well it's no good to you now, I'll see you at the top" he spoke out. Gairen went back inside the cave. "Who was that" Faida yelled. "A Merc elf killed my whole clan when I was little, he was after my friend, apparently he is blind and he can remember your soul". Gairen continued "I have been trying to find him for years". She smiled then hugged him, he again was in shock. "Forget him" she said softly, he put his arms around her as the fire went out.
Day broke and they set out once more, Gairen noticed the extreme height then lost his footing. Gairen flipped head first downwards; he quickly made a pick and latched on the mountain, incredibly steep he no longer took any more chances. Faida stopped and waited for him to catch up. As they picked up speed Gairen began to almost run on the wall like mountain. Gairen and Faida, neck and neck when she said, “Here’s the hard part”. Gairen look up to see the mountain curving outward. He fastened the hammer tighter to his back, and then he made four picks. “Here” He said as he handed her two of them, she took them and spun them in her hand. She jumped upwards and clapped her heals; two blades came out the toe. Gairen widened his eyes; he laughed and began to use the picks. As they climbed there way they came upon a lump like cave. They set camp and got in touch with the ground. Tired they planed to stay for a day, Gairen’s feet were dangling for quiet some time.
After some days they decided to go back out. Gairen was laughing then he looks out, an arrow hit his right eye. He stumbled backwards, and hit the ground holding it he only gave out a grunt. Faida saw the grinning Elf, the one that was there before. Using rope he hung from the mountain, but there was a little creature on the end moving him. Faida pulled out the arrow, the eye still on it she threw it out in disgust. Faida took some fur hide and put it over his lost eye. Gairen got back up, he looked around… he had lost the normal eye, everything was blue blurry vision, when he looked at Faida she was red. It was his heat vision, with out the other eye he is in constant heat vision. ”I lost my normal eye” he spoke out. She gasped, and then she spoke “You’re a sand dweller”. He grinned and nodded. “Let’s head out” he said. They climbed out and Gairen said “With out my other eye I can’t turn it off; I must have both eyes to switch. I must have switched it while he fired.” She was about to speak but she stopped.
They climbed and climbed, till they reached the tip of the curve. Gairen made a chain with a hook and threw it over; it latched onto a rock and he pulled Faida up on the chain. “Finally up, but there’s nothing here” he said. She got up and patted him on the back then said “We didn’t climb a continent size mountain not to run a little” She grinned. She jumped up on his back and hit his head saying “onward!” Gairen grinned and took off leaving the snow flying off his feet.
They arrived at the town. It was very festive and filled with fun, Gairen looked over a man stabbed another man. He set Faida down and ran to him, He picked him up and the man pushed him off saying “Get off me lad I’m a black smith” He got up and continued drink his ale. “Drinkers” Gairen mumbled. They went into a local pub; Faida ordered the ale as Gairen on the other hand had some milk. “Can’t hold your ale, Gairen” Faida said. “I don’t drink my master taught me in a healthy way to drink”. He holds up his cup and says “Milk, Juice, and water”. She looked at him squinting her eyes with her mouth open, she grinned and took his hand. She led him out side to the testing grounds of the black smiths. She opened a large door leading to a large arena. “Let’s win you an eye” she said.
A large voice yelled out “Who now challenges the champion, the blind Elf”. Gairen’s ears twitched as he heard it. “Sign me up” he growled in a deep voice. She smiled a fake smile and rushed to the desk. She talked for a little while then ran back. “Ok there starting a new tournament, knowing him if you want to kill him you have to win eight rounds” she said. He nodded and waited for his name to be called.
“The royal mountain tournament is about to begin. First round Gairen and Rynim’Bara.”
Gairen walked out cracking his neck, He saw then large beast of a man with two large hammers. Gairen made a dagger, the big guy laughed, but many of the black smiths looked in amazement. He threw it and hit the man dead in the fore head. He fell to the ground as Gairen walked out. The crowd was silent, then a guy raised his hands and yelled, then soon fallowed by the rest of the crowd. Gairen then spoke out to the announcer “Who’s next”. He grinned and announced the next round.
Round one was over Gairen was over confident and did not watch his next opponent. “Next round, the powerful samurai Raifenda, and the…. Well I don’t know what he is Gairen”. Gairen made a samurais katana and rushed at him. Raifenda took out his katana and blocked with ease then kicked Gairen away. He took his sword and stabbed at Gairen, Gairen moved and got back up. He took a stance and so did Gairen, they walked sideways looking in each others eyes. They both struck at the same time making sparks. They backed away again knowing again any false movements could kill either one. Gairen was holding back he wanted a challenge to see who the better samurai was; His hat was shaped like a large plate and was made out of straw. His eyes were blank pure white mixed in with blue; underneath his black robes were some pants and a light tunic. His hands covered in metal guards, he removed his hat and his eye’s had lightning around them. His sword had lightning as well; Gairen took a step back as he walked closer. Gairen flicked his wrist and the sword became double sided. Gairen flipped it around still walking to the side. All over Raifenda’s body shocks of lighting bouncing around on his body. Gairen flipped his blade behind his back then with the left hand he blasted him with a ray of sand shaped like a dragon. As the jaws of the sand opened Raifenda stuck his hand out and blasted a ray of lighting, it collided and as they did mall shards of glass hit the ground. The lighting bounced around the sand and hit Gairen, sending him flying. Gairen bashed up against the wall, then sand disappeared and the ray of lighting was coming strait for him. Gairen made a metal javelin and threw it at him, the lighting was conducted on to the javelin and headed strait at Raifenda. He grabbed it with ease and snapped it in half with one hand. Gairen got back up and charged straight at him, and Raifenda did the same. Lighting flew every were as there swords hit, Gairen put sand around his hands so he wouldn’t get shocked. Glass shards fell on the ground as mighty and fast strikes collided. Gairen’s eye showed bursts of light going every were, as only he could see heat. Gairen punched Raifenda and was shocked backwards. “My ultimate defense blocks your sword and you fist” he glared. Gairen got back up and blasted sand at him, flying him back on the wall. The sand shredded parts of his clothing and took off hit hat. He fully bald head shined, Gairen punched the ground as a huge wave of the ground headed straight for him. Raifenda jumped away, Gairen opened his mouth all the way as balls of sand burst out. Raifenda blocked them and ran to the side. Gairen stopped and jumped high in the air. Raifenda sheathed his sword and blasted rays of lightning at him. Gairen opened his mouth again and a huge wave of sand passes over him, his face is planted on the wall as it heads straight for Raifenda. He fires blast after blast but it doesn’t phase it. The head engulfs Raifenda and the sand turns into the ground making it the same as it was. Gairen fell back on the ground; Raifenda was gone in side the earth forever. “The winner Master Gairen” the announcer yelled. “Hmmm got a nice ring to it” Gairen said.
Many people fought many died and many lived. Rounds went by as Gairen won round after round. Now called Master Gairen he grew accustom to it. Although he did not consider himself to be one he was. He wanted to beat that Elf so bad he could taste it. As the rounds past he found himself fighting him instead of the real opponents.
“The fire Elf Vai’go versus Master Gairen” the announcer yelled as loud as he could.
Gairen stepped in the now larger arena hard stone, spikes lying on the walls. A moat of a pit filed with deadly cobras, the crowd ten feet away from the arena and in large stands. Many people came for this round; they yelled and yelled cheering for Gairen and the fire Elf. The elf rose his arms greeting the cheerers, in the stands in there own section were quit Blacksmiths, some large some old. This land was still untouched by resent technology. Gairen glared at the elf and made two large buster swords, one in each hand. The crowd was amazed of the strength Gairen showed, Black smiths looked in awe of the power. He ran at him dragging the swords, he lifted the right one and attacked him. He moved to the side and kicked Gairen sending him flying. Gairen got up and threw his left handed sword at him. Gairen jumped fallowing in the swords shadow; Vai’go grabbed the sword at the tip. Gairen flipped forwards at him his sword held by both of his hands. He disbanded from the ball shape formation and sliced at him, Vai’go Blocked with his free left hand; he pushed the sword out of the way and grabbed his vest. He threw him down on the ground, Gairen braced his fall and pushed his arms up, and Gairen was back up. Vai’go dropped the sword and walked over to him, he stopped and motioned his hands smooth like water and he fired fire from his hands. Gairen blasted sand and was making glass every were. Gairen Stomped his foot and a rock from the ground shot threw at him. Vai’go dodged it and fired more fire threw his mouth. Gairen sent a dagger threw the sand. He grabbed it with two fingers then dropped it. Gairen glared with his one eye, he jumped and attacked him with his bare hands. The left hook to the side was blocked as well as the right, using some form of arts he attacked. Glass flew all over the place as they blocked each others blows. Moving quick as they attacked, all parts of there body used as a weapon. The glass cut them as they battled, they both had bad eyes yet one could see heat, the other can see souls. Attack after attack the only thing that was hitting them was glass; this was a test of who had the most endurance. They crowd roared for such a fight, but to them it was silent all that was there was the fight. Vai’go found an opening and stuck at the middle of the chest. He hit the orb and he was in pain, Gairen kicked him back and made a sword. He put it against his neck; Vai’go then said “No” as he burst into flames. Gairen backed away, and then blasted sand all over him, he was freezing into glass, and his movements slowed down then stopped. Gairen picked him up and carried him to the snake pit. He put him inside and made a dagger. He threw the dagger cracking the glass; he broke free and was bitten. Gairen picked him up by his hair and threw him back in. Faida looked in shock, the Cobras slithering all over him and biting. He got up and threw snakes at him; Gairen made an axe and sliced them as they flew. He finally ran out of snakes, his red beady eyes faded as he flew to his knees then on his face. Gairen went over and grabbed a necklace of his dead friend off his body.Gairen walked to the center and sat down. The crowd was silent then they roared with applause and it sounded like thunder. A large man at least a foot taller then Gairen, walked in. His built body shined, Long white hair, his eyes were pure white with a shine of light blue, Red armor all over his chest and legs, and held in his hand was a hammer. Gairen stood up and made a sword. He shook his head and said “No I do not fight, I am the best blacksmith here, what would you like me to make”. “Can you make an eye of witch I can see through” Gairen spoke. “Done” He said. He turned and walked and Gairen fallowed.
Faida jumped on Gairen’s back and he continued to walk. Faida was a little bit smaller the Gairen but she still jumped on him. Gairen jumped around a bit and Faida laughed, the big blacksmith smiled as he did. They soon arrived to a large refinery and he opened the big doors then said” You can’t come in here, but meet me back here tomorrow at the 4 of the afternoon. Gairen nodded and walked away.
“Now were is that smithing academy” Gairen said. “Hmmm over, there” she said. Gairen turned his head and jumped. He landed right in front of the door; he opened it and walked inside. He let her off his back and he sat down. She went to the desk and talked for a while. She soon came back and told Gairen “it’s going to take a year, and I don’t think you’ll wana stay that long so I guess this is good bye”. Gairen grabbed her hand as she turned back, she turned around and he said “I’ll be here before, after, and during”. He stood up and she hugged him. Gairen walked up to the desk and said “Sign me up”.
They walked out, Gairen and Faida walked out of the town and a spot close to it. Gairen spotted some trees and made an axe. He began to chop them down, and care them. Faida sat down and opened her pack; she pulled out a box and opened it. Gairen looked over and smiled, he stopped and walked over. He took off his pouch and gave it to her and said “Go to town and spend as much as you like, get some stuff”. She nodded, took the money and went to town. Gairen looked around, he held out his hand and sand came out. The sand began to mold a copy of him. He did it again and again, they all had axes and Gairen said “Let’s roll boys”, they all raised axes and yelled. They quickly chopped down the trees and began making a house. At least a hundred working, this was no house but a wondrous manor.
Faida came back, and she saw Gairen Hammering in a nail. She was in awe of the size, Gairen finished and hopped down and said “Do you like it, it’s yours”. She jumped on him and they fell in the snow.
The next day Gairen went to the refinery, and knocked on the door. The man opened the door and said “right on time”. He took Gairen inside and put him on a table; He strapped him down and took of the fur hide. A man in a cloak arrived and waved his hands up and down side to side. The blacksmith held up the eye, it was golden, and it had carvings of and eye. The there man clapped his hand and Gairen could see through it “Hold still” The black smith said. He put in the eye and put on some fire shaped cover to place around to hold it in place. “Here comes the pain” The blacksmith said. He took a glowing blue hammer, began to hammer it. It was like nails going into his head, but there was nothing, it was very painful. Gairen grunted on the last hammer, his head was throbbing. “The pain will be gone tomorrow” he said.
Gairen walked out and Faida ran over. “Let’s go home” He said. He put his arm around her and walked back. On the way they past threw a ally, there was three men with big knives. “He buddy can we have a piece of her heh heh” One said. They laughed and Gairen looked up and said “you have nice brown eye’s it’s a shame”. Gairen jumped up and made some Daggers he threw them and hit him dead in the eyes. The other ones charged at him, Gairen fell back down and made a sword, he grabbed the one his hand and stabbed the other one. He took him and threw him high in the air; he threw the sword right by him. He fell and Gairen grabbed him, the sword can down and hit his head. Gairen dropped him and they continued to walk back.
When they got back, Gairen went on the roof. He stood up and took a deep breath, He then yelled from the top of his lounges “SOBEK”. A few seconds later there was a large roar, Faida ran up and said “what did you do”. Gairen smiled, he looked at his arm his scar was glowing crazily. The sky blackened and lighting flew all over. The thunder was loud as in high speeds a very big dragon flew. Wind was out of control, many people from the city look as it boomed across the land. “Gairen what did you do” Faida yelled. “My friend is here” he said. Sobek flapped his wings smoothly as he increased in speed. He flew around the house Gairen petted his snout. Sobek shrunk into a smaller form and landed on Gairen’s shoulder. Gairen petted him and said “You think I forgot you, you sure got bigger” Sobek purred. Faida said “That’s yours”! Gairen walked inside.
